ICC ODI rankings update: Rohit Sharma enters top three for the first time in 29 months

sharma has jumped up one place and is third in the current ICC men’s ODI rankings, released on Wednesday.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has made 122 runs in the two ODIs against Sri Lanka at a strike rate of 134 to jump to No.3 in the ICC rankings. He currently has 763 rating points, 61 points away from top-placed Babar Azam. Rohit’s opening partner shubman gill is second, with 782 rating points.
Rohit enters top three for first time in 29 months
Rohit, playing his first ODI series since the World Cup final last November, made 58 in the first ODI and followed it up with a score of 64 in Colombo. Yet to reach the No.1 spot in the format, Rohit entered the top three in the ICC charts for the first time since February 2022. He displaced virat koli, who dropped down a spot from No.3.
Gill made only 51 runs from the first two games but continued to hold onto the second spot. He has been amongst the top two batters in the world since September 2023, and briefly occupied the No.1 place during the ODI World Cup.
